Guwahati, April 12: Sare Gama Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu 2006-famed Assamese singer Banjyotsna Borgohain (23), along with a sound recordist, identified as Siddhartha Sankar Dutta (33), has been detained by the police here following a complaint from her parents that she was kidnapped by Siddhartha.

Banjyotsna and Siddhartha were picked up by Paltan Bazar police last night. The police acted on an FIR filed by Banjyotsna’s parents.

The due of Banjyotsna and Siddhartha arrived in Guwahati from Mumbai on April 9 in order to take part in cultural programmes during the ensuing Rongali Bihu celebrations.

Though Banjyotsna’s parents alleged that she was kidnapped by Siddhartha, the singer said she had already married the Bollywood sound recordist. Her parents, however, claimed that she had been forced to stay with the family of Siddhartha.

Even as the parents of Siddhartha submitted documentary evidence to prove the marriage of Banjyotsna and their son, the police had not freed them till the time of filing the report.

Banjyotsna was runner-up of the music reality show Sare Gama Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu 2006. Siddhartha, popularly known as King in Mumbai, also hails from Assam.
